Tis the Season to be Jolly

So, I haven't updated this in about a month, but not much has happened to be reported on.

I've been writing term papers, and doing homework. I took a little over a week off for Thanksgiving break. That was really nice. I got to see the Escalante's briefly on Wednesday night. :) I stayed at Janna's house on Wednesday night, Went to Bill and Jackie's for Thanksgiving lunch, then to the Brewers for Thanksgiving dinner and to spend the night the next two nights. Then right before I left on Saturday, I got to see Amy and Will. Then my dad and I picked up my friend David and we drove back to my Dad's casa. David preached on Sunday morning and then we drove back to college.

That night we had a "reunion dinner" for the Posse. :) That was pretty neat.

Most of my term papers are done, but I have 2 more to write. One for Government(due tomorrow) and one for Service Learning(Due Tuesday). I have two finals tomorrow. One is in student success and one is in Government(take home final).

Just random other things that have happened...

I might join student government (SAGA) next semester, since I've been asked to by the president at least 10 times
I went to part of 2 basketball games
I went to the theater dept's latest show - Wiley and the Hairy man
I'm in several yearbook pictures.
I've been going on nightly walks...sometimes with Chap.
I gave two campus tours this month

K... I'm going to study for finals and write term papers. I finish school on December 12, so Hopefully I'll update before then, but if not, I'll be back in January. :)

I <3 College

College ROCKS!!!!

This past weekend I went on a mission trip with about 50 kids from Lon Morris and I had an incredible time. We got to go to Houston and work with the Texas Mission of Mercy Dental Clinic. I got to direct parking at first, and let me tell ya... that is really scary in Spring Branch. After a while, I got moved inside to the Data Processing Department. That was so much fun! I got to bring up charts of teeth and pick which ones were extracted and where the composites and amalgams were done and which types of xrays were taken. It was just really neat stuff. :)

I made a lot of really good friends on the trip and we went to church and out to eat on Sunday night. Then we caused havoc in the library. We all went in there to study, but that didn't work because we were all talking and laughing and throwing paper balls at each other for hours.

I also saw my dad and sting ray on Sunday...that was cool. :D

I have 18 school days left, and I'm really looking forward to coming home a bit in December, but also, now that I have friends... I kind of want to stay here. weird, huh? :P

Also, Another cool thing that happened was two of my teachers said that I would get into the honors frat. :) woo. I just have to bring my physics grade up... which will happen soon after he grades our tests. :D

and Janna is coming this weekend!! woo hoo!!! :D:D:D

I'm going on a mission trip next weekend!!! I'm excited!!! :D I went out to dinner with some friends tonight and things got really funny. :D

Just a few things...

I got my midterm grades...

Physics - C

Student Success - A

Service Learning - A

Government - B

English - A

Old Testament - A

Weight Training - A

Not too bad, right? I don't expect to make a whole lot higher in Physics, I'm not too good at science. I'll be very pleased with a C. Plus, I'm making the highest grade in the class for Physics and Government!! :)

I plan on getting that Government grade back up to an A, but there is only one grade in right now and it's our last test grade, which I made an 88 on. The next lowest person made a 77. Go me. :D

Another new thing going on now, I'm joining the Ambassadors. They recruit people from their old high schools and show people around campus. Once it stops raining outside, I'm going to turn in that application.

This past weekend was a blast!! I had a great time seeing everyone!!

This coming weekend is Fall Family Weekend. As far as I know, my family is coming on Saturday... but actually I have no idea. Janna is also coming this weekend. I think she is spending the night on Friday and Saturday. It should be fun, because the "Miss-Ter Lon Morris Pageant" is on Friday night. It's a bunch of guys cross dressing... should be funny. On Saturday evening, we're having our fall fest and that should be tonz o' fun too!!

The weekend after this one, I'm headed to Houston for my mission trip and I'm definitely looking forward to that. :D

Should be a good next couple of weeks!! :D and only 26 days of school left!! WOO HOO!

31 days left this semester!!

I don't think I had the count right on the last post... but it is officially 31 school days left. :D I'm sticking around here this weekend, I have a 5 page research paper to write for English and there's no way I'll get it done anywhere else. :)

Saturday night I'm going to have dinner in Tyler with my family and a few friends, so that'll be fun.

Let's see... what else is new. I went to Kindergarten today. Those kids are a nightmare. :/ I supposed I need to learn to deal with tough kids now before I'm actually a teacher.

I got another A on my last English paper and A on my religion test(I think I said that last time). I'm still waiting on grades for my English, Government, and Physics midterms. I'm a bit nervous about those. Hopefully they'll at least be passing.

I don't have much else to say.

hello anyone who still reads this!!

Sorry I haven't updated in a LONG time... but here I am now, so the complaints can stop. :)

I'm just going to list things today, because I'm lazy and it'll allow me to test out this bullet function again. :D

I went to bed at 8:45 last night!!! ....and I woke up at the time I usually go to bed. (3:30)
I got a 92 on my religion test!!
I have an English midterm tomorrow and a physics midterm on Thursday ... Your prayers are greatly appreciated.
We had the freshman cookout last night... good food, had to leave early for Gov, though.
Government was 30 minutes long last night because our teacher wanted to watch baseball. He's cool. :)
34 days of class left for me, including finals. :) WOO HOO!
I'm going home for Homecoming. I'll be home on the 18th. :) If you want to see me, call me when I'm in town!!
I accidentally wore a UT shirt in Dallas this past Saturday.... I thought I was going to get jumped on the train full of OU people.
My suite mate locks herself out of her room a lot, and then sits in the lobby and waits for me to come let her in.
My service learning teacher loves me!
I'm going on a field trip next Tuesday to a ropes course.
23 days until my Mission Trip to Houston!!
I have 12 hours and 15 minutes of volunteer hours this semester so far!!
We get 8 hours for the mission trip. :) w00t.
I have a research paper due for English on the 16th. :/ I should get started on that.
I have a "final paper" due for Religion on November 29th, that I should get out of the way soon, before I have like 7 papers to do all at the same time.

Ok, That's all I've got for you this time, I don't really like the list thing because it doesn't flow...but I said what I needed to say quickly. :)

P.S. My mailbox has been empty for days. :(

I know I'm way behind in sending mail, I'm sorry! I'll definitely work on that tonight since I'm a little bit ahead on my homework. :)

A certain someone I'm not supposed to talk about on here, has to be mentioned today.

Apparently the majority of the campus hates her now. It's amusing, because I've seen this coming for quite some time now. :) Though, it sucks, because she's in my reflection group now. :(

We had somewhat decent food in the cafeteria tonight! It was egg rolls and fried rice and some sort of Chinese dish.

I can't remember if I mentioned it here, but I'm the only one in my physics class that passed our exam! I got a 74! woohoo!!

I was one of two people that made an A on our English papers. YAY! The other person is from Germany, and English was her second language. I think that says something about the rest of the class. ;)

I haven't decided whether I'm staying or going this weekend. If I go, I'm going to my dad's house.

Sorry this is so random. My brain is pretty fried from writing English papers. haha. I'm gonna go clear my mind and then start some letters. :)

Let's see... where do I begin?

I've just been keeping busy with school work and all. I've been trying to get all my homework for the week done by Tuesday or Wednesday. However, that doesn't always work out. This week I have a tremendous amount to do, and I've been procrastinating. In fact, instead of writing my English paper, I'm updating my blog for you!! Yay!

This past weekend I went back home to the LC. I went on somewhat of a date with my friends to quizno's and the creek football game. After the game, we went to Amy's and watched a movie.

Friday, I didn't do much during the day, just hung out and relaxed. Friday night, a bunch of people came over to the Escalante's and we had a "party". haha.

Saturday morning, we went to the Upward Football game at the church. Let me tell ya, it is hilarious watching 5 year olds play football and cheer. After the game I went back to the Escalante's where we decided it was much too pretty outside to sit inside all day. Julie surprised us by taking us out to Clear Lake and renting wave runners. I had the time of my life!!! It was SOOOOO much fun!!(even when i flipped mine four times hahaha) After that we had a nice picnic at the Clear Lake Shores' park with hamburgers from the beer garden. We also played frisbee and football out there in the park. What an awesome afternoon!!

When we got home, we washed the cars since we were already wet. My car was so dirty!

That evening we watched Jersey Girl, and all through the movie I had really bad pain in my chest, left arm, and left side of my neck. After the movie, I called my mom and asked her what I should do. She said go to the hospital, so we did.

Long story short, they couldn't find anything wrong with me after 2 IVs, 1 failed attempt at an IV, an ekg, 2 chest x rays, and a cat scan.

Good news- I'm feeling much better.

Sunday, went to church and hung out then drove back to college.

This week so far, not much has happened. Just been going to class and trying to resist the urge of putting nair in my ex roommates shampoo. Shes gotten this brilliant idea that putting a mattress in front of my door and knocking and leaving is the funniest thing ever. Well I have words for her. GROW UP. seriously. It's obnoxious and it's a fire hazard(I'm right in front of the fire exit).

I suppose I should actually go write my paper now.

My First Weekend at College

So I actually stayed for the whole weekend at college. First time!

Friday I started volunteering. From 9-10 I went to the campus fitness center and talked with the cancer patients who were working out in there. One of them is from seabrook and used to be a book keeper at Clear Creek(where I went to High School). Small world huh? I've had a lot of small world experiences here. kinda crazy. At 12:15 I went to the Elementary school I'm working at and started with my class. What a difference this class is from my old K kids. I'm not gonna lie... it was terrifying. I don't know how the teacher does it. and I feel really bad for her because this is her first year teaching. I actually for a moment thought about changing my major. lol but I'm not going to because I know I'm not always going to have a perfect class, but I'm tough and I can handle it. So this year should be a good learning experience for sure. I'm there to help 5 kids in particular. I've already pinpointed about 3 of them. I'm not sure who the other 2 are yet. The three that I know of remind me of the 7 dwarfs. and I will refer to them as Sleepy, Grumpy, and Bashful. Sleepy was actually asleep the whole time I was there. He has a bad home life and doesn't get much sleep. So the teacher lets him sleep sometimes. So of course he's a bit behind. Bashful never said a word to me the whole time and doesn't know how to write her name. and wouldn't draw in her journal. and then there is grumpy... He growled at me the whole time. and was in time out almost the whole time. The reason I say almost is because he got sent to the principals at the end of the time I was there. He kept kicking the wall and being very disruptive. So... needless to say that was quite an experience. Around 2 I went to the training at Rusk State Hospital. We had to watch 3 training videos, and one of the other girls fell asleep during the HIPAA one. lol I don't blame her. they were really boring. Then we walked through the recreation area. Pretty scary. a lot of the guys were following us around and asking us where we were from. I'm kinda nervous about continuing there, but I've committed to 20 volunteer hours there, so I'm going to stay for now. If I get really uncomfortable I'll stop going there.

Saturday, I turned into a Vampire and did not see sunlight. I left my room once during the day, just to take out the trash. I went and got something to eat around 8:30ish though, otherwise i wouldn't have left the building at all. lol I did see like an entire season of America's next top Model. hahaha

Sunday was better, I went to Sunday school and Church in the morning. I was invited to sing in the choir by Mr. Compton. lol. I can't sing, but I said I'd think about it. After church, I ate lunch in the cafeteria, then went back to my room until dinner.

Today I skipped weight training... I'll make up the time later tonight, because I really needed to sleep this morning. and now I need to go do my homework. and luckily I just killed 2 birds with one stone, because I'm using the first part of this blog as my service learning journal entry. :D

Oh, P.S. I'm coming home next weekend.

I apologize...

I'm sorry I haven't updated in a while. Here's what you've missed...

My roommate moved out! So now I have a room all to myself!!!!!!!!! which ROCKS. and I only have to share the bathroom with one other person now. :)

I have been writing numerous papers for English, sitting around a lot, and building my muscles!

I actually just got back from weight training and I'm really tired and sore. I was the only one who showed up today so I had no one to talk to, so I listened to my iPod. I started with a warm up on the treadmill while listening to "Eye of the Tiger". Yes, I feel like a dork, you don't have to ask. Then I went on with lifting weights of various sorts. I'm really sore, and I think I broke my finger on the way back by slamming it in the door. But I do enjoy the burst of energy working out in the morning gives you for the rest of the day. :)

We had room checks the other night and I'm proud to say I won cleanest dorm. My prize? A granola bar. Eh...better than nothing. I did get in trouble for my cords, though. they told me to spread them out if I didn't want to die. lol There really aren't that many, it's just the way they were all bunched up and the usb cords were tangled in too.

I've got to go read my English paper that I finished at 1:40 am last night to see if it still makes sense, and then It's scrubs/nap time until lunch. :)
